UNCHAiNED is a study in contrasts—a high-energy rock band from Illinois that brings a fusion of funk and rock to get bodies moving, yet they’re more introspective than their sound might suggest. The members of UNCHAiNED have faced their share of tragedy, and they’ve emerged stronger, channeling those experiences into their music.

The band was recording their debut LP, Waterfront (set for release in 2025), when their mentor and producer, Camron Yates, was tragically killed in a car accident just minutes after leaving the studio. Just three weeks later, lead singer David Allen lost his father on the same stretch of road. While other bands might have crumbled, UNCHAiNED is different.

UNCHAiNED was born on a dare, encouraged by drummer Matthew Runions’ father, who’s also the band’s manager. Urged to step out of his shell and pursue music, Runions quickly brought together Ty Ellis on bass, Lucas McCafferty and Dave Allen on vocals, and Cooper Marx and Logan McKneelen on guitars—all high school friends. Their diverse influences, spanning from Rush, Earth, Wind & Fire to 311, Sublime, and A$AP Rocky, give the band a distinctive sound that blends rock, funk, and introspective lyricism.
